Biography

Camilla Ancilotto was born in Rome, a city where she lives and works.

In 1999 she got her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree from the New York Academy of Art. Her first picto-sculptural production is characterized by research on interactive multiple figurations, made thanks to rotating parallelepipeds.

In 2012 the monumental work "Original Sin" became part of the permanent collection of sculptures at Wolfson Campus (Miami Dade College).

In 2013 she is chosen among the artists selected for the 55 International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale with "Deposition."

2017 is the year in which Ancilotto successfully creates polychromatic decomposable works, inspired by the ancient Chinese puzzle "Tangram": with this new cycle, entitled "Ab Ovo," she is one of the main attractions at the famous Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, with her solo exhibition "Mutaforma" at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive - Museo Carandente.

In 2018, she takes part in BIAS (International Biennale of Sacred Art) - Manifesta 12 (Palermo) and the Van Gogh Prize - International Art Exhibition (Monreale), where she receives an award for "the most innovative work" with “Katharsis”. She is subsequentially invited to participate in the 45th edition of the international exhibition Premio Sulmona 2018, where she wins third prize with the work "Nigredo."

In January 2019, Ancilotto's art is again part of the international exhibition circuit, with her participation in the LA Art Show, while in April she is among the protagonists of the Milan Design Week with the exhibition Ab Ovo, in the prestigious surroundings of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. In the summer months she participated in the sixth edition of the International Contemporary Art Competition at Palazzo Rospigliosi in Zagarolo - where she won the "Toy Museum" award - and in the exhibition "EMOZIONI IN MOSTRA. Armenia meets the World" at Castel dell'Ovo in Naples. In autumn she is present at the interactive exhibition "Bim Bum Bam", with the installation of three Ab Ovo in the Cortille Abatelli of the Steri monumental complex in Palermo. In October she is among the artists invited to be part of the innovative project "Atelier di MACRO ASILO", organized at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome. Also in that same month, she again exhibited at the Sulmona "Gaetano Pallozzi" Prize at the S. Chiara Diocesan Civic Museum Complex, winning the Organization's special prize for the mirrored steel work "Ab Ovo - Missile Configuration."

Between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, Ancilotto returns to exhibit her Ab Ovo works at the Carlo Bilotti Museum in Villa Borghese on the occasion of the exhibition "Unforgettable Childhood," curated by Ermanno Tedeschi and promoted by Roma Capitale - Assessorato alla Crescita Culturale in collaboration with the Embassy of Israel in Italy.

Since July 2021, with the canvas "Lucchetti del cuore" placed in the premises of the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels, she has been a proud ambassador of Italian art in Belgium.

Represented by Talk Gallery in Brussels, in November she takes part with her impressive polychrome Ab Ovo in the first edition of the international modern and contemporary art fair "Roma Arte in Nuvola 2021," contributing decisively to the awarding of the "Young Prize" to the young Belgian gallery as the best gallery "under 5."

In December of the same year, on the occasion of the exhibition "Giocare a regola d'arte" (curated by Paolo Giulierini and Ermanno Tedeschi) at the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the artist presented the installation "Ab Ovo: Conglio, Gallina, Ippocampo" and the interactive work "Sebastiano".

Still in December, with the traveling exhibition "Bim Bum Bam - Art and Toys" (curated by Ermanno Tedeschi and Nirit Dahan), Tangram-inspired works land in Israel, exhibited in the spaces of the Negev Museum of Art in Be'er Sheva.

The year 2021 is also marked by two important acquisitions: two Ab Ovo sculptures in mirror-polished steel find permanent placement at the prestigious venue of the National Museum of Ravenna (Contemporary Art Room) and in the private collection of Modern and Contemporary Art of Banca Patrimoni Sella.

In the month of December, she was invited to participate in the exhibition "Giocare a regola d'arte" at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.

In 2022 an Ab Ovo became part of the permanent collection of the prestigious National Museum of Ravenna, which is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In June 2023 she was invited to exhibit at the headquarters of the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, as a distinguished representative of Italian art.

In July she was present at the Genoa Biennale, where she won a place of honor among the award-winning artists with her two polychrome Ab Ovo, which find their own special recognition in the contemporary art context.

In October she participates in the 50th edition of the Sulmona Prize where she is awarded a prestigious recognition for her work "La nuit", considered one of the best proposals in contemporary art and Ancilotto one of the most representative artists in the history of the Prize.

In November she participates in the international Singapore Art Fair while in December she will be at Art Basel Miami, international fairs that always have a strong critical and public response; important occasions where collectors invest and valuations go up.
